What is naked-eye 3D screen?

In today's era of pursuing innovation and technology, naked-eye 3D billboards have quickly swept the key business districts of major cities across the country with their unique charm. From the fashionable landmark of Beijing Sanlitun Taikoo Li to the romantic style of Hangzhou Lakeside; from the urban prosperity of Wuhan Tiandi to the commercial splendor of Guangzhou Tianhe Road, naked-eye 3D screens are like bright pearls, inlaid in every corner of the city, shining and eye-catching.

1. The basic principle of naked-eye 3D

Naked-eye 3D technology uses the perceptual differences and perspective laws that exist in the human visual system to achieve the effect. There is a distance of about 60mm between the human eyes, which makes the images received by the left and right eyes when we look at objects have a certain horizontal difference. This difference is called parallax. By processing these images with parallax, the brain can judge the distance of the object, thereby generating a sense of depth and three-dimensionality. Naked-eye 3D technology simulates this process and transmits different image information to the left and right eyes respectively, so that the audience can feel the realistic three-dimensional effect without wearing any auxiliary equipment.

2. Key technologies for achieving naked-eye 3D effects

Screen design

L-shaped screen: The L-shaped screen is a common screen form in naked-eye 3D display technology. This design displays different images on the screen at different angles, allowing the audience to feel a strong stereoscopic effect at a specific viewing angle. The corner of the L-shaped screen is usually the best viewing direction for naked-eye 3D, which can present the most realistic three-dimensional stereoscopic effect.

High-definition display: To achieve vivid naked-eye 3D visual effects, the screen must have high-resolution display capabilities. High-resolution LED displays (such as 4K or 8K screens) can present more delicate image details, making the stereoscopic effect more realistic.

Content production

High-definition camera: When shooting naked-eye 3D video content, a high-definition camera is required to ensure the clarity and color saturation of the picture. High-definition cameras can capture more image details and provide high-quality materials for post-production.

Post-processing technology: Post-processing is one of the key links in achieving naked-eye 3D effects. Through professional post-processing software, the captured images can be deeply processed, and parameters such as viewing angle and depth of field can be adjusted to meet the visual needs of different audiences. In addition, the stereoscopic and immersive feeling of naked-eye 3D can be further enhanced by adding borders and designing "out-of-screen" effects.

Optical technology

Grating technology: Grating technology is a common implementation method on naked-eye 3D display screens. By covering the surface of the display screen with a layer of grating, the direction of light can be accurately controlled so that light from different angles enters different eyes. In this way, the left and right eyes can receive different image information, thus producing a three-dimensional effect.

Columnar lens technology: Another optical technology for achieving naked-eye 3D effects is cylindrical lens technology. A layer of tiny cylindrical lens arrays is placed on the surface of the screen. These lenses can transmit different images to the left and right eyes according to the viewing angle, thereby achieving a three-dimensional effect. The advantage of cylindrical lens technology is that it can keep the brightness of the picture unaffected while improving the quality of the 3D display effect.
